Course Description:

'' Building on the core aid climbing skills taught in our Essentials Of Aid course, you will learn techniques required to complete more difficult climbs in more committing settings. Although this course does not include an overnight stay on a wall, it does introduce many of the skills that are required in that environment.

You will learn several techniques for leading pendulums and following them on ascenders. Next, you will learn the important principles required to build anchors suitable for efficient hauling, and living, in the vertical world. You will practice the techniques required to haul large loads efficiently, and learn how to position and assemble a porta-ledge for camping on a wall.

Basic pitoncraft is introduced and practiced away from established climbing areas. We also present some of the intricate techniques required for “skyhooking� a truly unforgettable experience.

Students do all of the leading during this course and before enrolling, they must have a solid grasp of the skills taught in our Essentials Of Aid. Advanced Aid skills are essential if you aspire to climb big walls.
