'' Learn Modern Standard Arabic, the fundamental Arabic language used in writing and formal communication, and Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, the most widely-spoken and recognized of the many local colloquial Arabics throughout the Middle East.
Combine your study of Arabic language with the age-old art of calligraphy. In the first level, students will learn how to write each letter in the correct proportion, join identical and unidentical letters and change the proportions of letters for artistic effect, and write a word or line by adding decorative motifs to balance and decorate the un-lettered spaces.
An advanced class is also offered. In this level, students will learn how to write a simple sentence and study the accurate distribution of spaces between letters and words. You will write letters in many possible ways, use decorative motifs and designs to decorate a page, and enlarge and reduce the size of a sentence while maintaining the proper proportions.
