'' A continuation of XL 4, in this course students read selections from contemporary prose, drama, and articles from Italian magazines. Main points of advanced grammar also are reviewed. Prerequisite: XL 4 Intermediate Italian or equivalent and consent of instructor at the first class. If taken for credit, successful completion of Italian XL 5 applies toward the Humanities (Language and Linguistics/Foreign Language) requirement of the UCLA College of Letters and Science. Enrollment limited. Required text: Ponti by Tognozzi and Cavatorta. Students must be enrolled before the second class. ...''
