'' This is an advanced editing workshop that provides hands-on experience in editing narrative fiction. Students gain experience in editing both action and dramatic dialog scenes as they explore advanced techniques in applying solutions to various editorial challenges such as lack of coverage and building dramatic tension. Other hurdles to leap include missing shots, mismatched action, content changes and aesthetic disagreements. Topics include working with a lined script, shot selection, coverage issues, pacing, picture and sound editing techniques, title design, opticals and the art of constructive criticism. Throughout this course veteran editor-trainer, Tamera Daugherty, guides students as they edit, screen and critique each other’s work on re-cut scenes. This is one of Video Symphony’s most challenging and popular classes.
