'' The subject of forensic science is extensive, diverse and complex and covers a wide range of subjects and professions from psychology to biology. This course looks mainly at forensic psychology, but also gives an overview of forensics, including crime scene investigation and other specialist areas. Forensic psychology may not involve chasing down serial killers or collecting material evidence, but it is still an extremely fascinating subject.

Put simply, forensic psychologists are psychologists that are called on to provide evidence and give their professional opinions in a court of law in order to facilitate a legal decision. They do a variety of things, such as helping in jury selection, determining if the individual accused of a crime is mentally capable of standing trial (competency), profiling the criminal and giving an opinion of what may have happened or about the person’s sanity.
