'' Mediation, although still relatively new in the UK, is an effective method of conflict resolution in the workplace and in domestic and neighbourhood disputes. Mediation aims to arrive at a solution where there are no winners and losers but an agreed outcome that is negotiated through discussion.
This course aims to offer the student a pathway to developing an interest or career in mediation. It gives a valuable insight into the mediation process and how people benefit, and examines many of the skills and qualities required by a mediator.
Students will learn about communication skills, building rapport with clients, and the importance of confidentiality, empathy and respect. A pre-requisite of this course is a qualification in Counselling, Stress Management, Psychotherapy or similar.
