'' Simultaneous interpreting requires analytic skills to grasp ideas, decode large chunks of meaning and reformulate them as concisely as possible. You will get an introduction to the practice of simultaneous interpretation. You will learn and practice a variety of techniques to develop skills in simultaneous interpretation of civil and legal proceedings. There will be an emphasis on continued acquisition of general legal vocabulary, as well as techniques to deal with unknown terms, memory lapses and loss of concentration. Exercises will develop speed, length, informational load, and terminology. This is a language laboratory class.
