'' Legal translation requires a basic understanding of the legal systems in both the source and target language. You need familiarity with terminology and the legal writing style of the target language; and a high level of accuracy in meaning, tone, and style. This class provides an overview of legal and administrative document translation and its respective features. This includes the different types of legal systems, and how to research legal terminology in both Spanish and English. Exercises and discussion will also emphasize the importance of cultural and linguistic differences that can affect the meaning of legal text.
