'' Our new Green Building Certificate is an opportunity to learn how to integrate financially and environmentally conscious decision-making into your building practices. In the Green Building Certificate, you will learn about the emerging trend of developing sustainable communities through design and by defining more effective ways to use viable resources. You will find out why green design and construction practices continue to gain momentum, and how each industry, including your own, can benefit from incorporating these practices.
Savvy professionals in construction, architecture, engineering, design and urban planning understand that incorporating green building practices can be a boon to their businesses, as well as the environment. Green building practices transform the design and construction of buildings to dramatically decrease the consumption of natural resources and the production of waste. Set yourself apart from your competition by being able to respond to your customers inquiries and demands regarding green building.
This Green Building Certificate features elements from architecture, environmental planning, and construction management. You will gain essential training in the systems involved in water, energy, design, waste management, and much more.
The Green Building Certificate consists of nine courses totaling 85 hours of lecture and hands-on experience. The certificate graduate will receive 8.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), a nationally recognized unit used for professional development.
Program Objective Upon completion of the certificate program, graduates will be allowed to: - Demonstrate an understanding of the development and regulations relating to the green building industry - Identify and discuss sustainable practices as applicable in planning and site development processes - Understand and apply sustainable principles in the architectural design of buildings - Understand, discuss and demonstrate skills to apply energy and water efficiency strategies in building design and construction. - Identify and discuss effective waste management programs - Understand the process through which to aquire sustainable construction materials and apply sustainable construction practices - Identify and discuss sustainable strategies relating to building interior design
