'' Earn an Urban Planning Certificate to advance your career. If you are new to the field, the Urban Planning Certificate offers an opportunity to develop sophisticated skills. If you have already worked in urban planning for a few years, this program provides an opportunity to validate your skills and prepare for expanded responsibilities.
The Urban Planning Certificate, which was created in partnership with seasoned planners from Orange County, includes 10 urban planning courses-five core courses and five electives.
The complexity of todays dynamic urban environment creates many challenges. Planners who are new to the field are expected to get up to speed quickly. There is an urgent need for planners who have leadership skills, as well as the ability to adapt quickly in a changing profession. Urban Planning Certificate is ideal for people who are new to the field, as well as seasoned planners that want formal training to validate and expand their skills.
Instructors are seasoned experts in the field who will share real-world experiences and practical, effective strategies that can be immediately applied.
To receive a Certificate in Urban Planning, you need to complete the five core classes as well as three of the five elective classes.
Program Objective Graduates of the certificate program will be able to: - Demonstrate an understanding of the functions and responsibilities of a planner in an evolving industry - Identify and apply the techniques of effective communication with multiple constituents - Understand and identify the key elements of a systematic design review process - Understand, discuss, and be able to demonstrate the primary skills in project management in the planning process - Demonstrate an understanding of effective leadership skills as applicable in both the public and private planning sectors - Understand and discuss current legal and legislative developments in the planning industry - Identify and discuss the techniques and strategies to effectively incorporate new planning trends into the community planning process
