'' The classes in the Technical Writing Certificate will help you develop the skills you need to succeed. You will learn how to write and edit users guides and manuals; reports; feasibility and usability studies; proposals; online documents; interpretations of engineering and design specifications and more.

The Technical Writing Certificate was developed to provide a professional training resource for anyone interested in entering this field. The Certificate in Technical Writing consists of six courses totaling 165 hours of lecture and hands-on experience. The certificate graduate will receive 16.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), a nationally recognized unit used for professional development.
Program Objective Graduates of the certificate program will be able to: - Clearly, precisely and effectively present ideas used in industry and scientific fields - Identify and discuss each of the component sections of proposals, reports, manuals, online documents and usability-centered technical writing - Outline the planning process in preparation for writing a proposal, report and manual - Obtain and/or develop the technical information required for the preparation of, proposals, reports and manuals - Produce samples of proposals, reports and manuals - Describe the current methods used to deliver technical information in digital format and how these tools are best applied to the types of projects developed by technical writers - Discuss and demonstrate the different tools available to the technical writer online and explain the best application of each tool to the specific needs of the types of projects typically developed by technical writers
