Course Description:
'' This course covers the basics of backcountry ski travel and winter safety aspects of recreating in the cold. Included is an introduction to using the Telemark turn in the backcountry. The class is an all-day trip to Cameron Pass area and includes tips on using ski skins, avoiding avalanche danger, judging snow conditions, and how to apply "Telemarking" to snow conditions in the backcountry.
Important note: this is not a “learn to ski�class, participants must be competent basic skiers or better.
The class consists of one “dryland�evening session. The evening session will cover equipment fitting, clothing, technique, and safety considerations. OAP will provide students with Telemark ski equipment and climbing skins, available on a first-come basis.
