Course Description:
'' This course is designed to help scientists better document and communicate their research by teaching them techniques and methods of science illustration. Learning the fundamentals of strong observational illustration will improve not only the drawing skills of the students, but also the observational skills that prove most helpful in good research. Lessons are designed to teach accuracy in drawing, tonal range, black and white medium techniques, basic composition and application.
MATERIALS LIST:
Please bring items 1-8 to first class. The other materials will be discussed with options.

2. Kneaded eraser
3. White plastic eraser
4. Drawing pencils 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, ebony
5. Saral paper
6. Plain white copy paper
7. Bristol board
8. Artist tape
9. Calipers
10. Clear plastic ruler
11. Spray fixative (optional)
12. Ceramicon black ink pens .005, .05, .1
13. Magnifying glass
14. Watercolor board, cold press
15. Waterproof India ink black
16. 2 Windsor Newton paint brushes (sizes to be discussed)
