'' Six Sigma is set of tools and methods for advanced problem-solving that focuses on eliminating defects. Six Sigma methods integrate principles of business, statistics and engineering to achieve breakthrough cost reductions. These tools have been used to improve the processes, products, and services of a variety of organizations. Six Sigma has proven its worthiness saving billions of dollars since its introduction 20 years ago.

What is Lean?

Lean thinking focuses on removing the non-value added (NVA) delay, waste, and rework from your processes. It comes from the Toyota Production System but can be used in any industry or business.

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is an aggressive method for breakthrough improvement in speed, quality and cost. By combining the tools and methods of breakthrough problem-solving with the solid tools of process flow, many businesses have earned great cost savings. Blending the concepts of Lean Thinking with traditional Six Sigma methodology is one of the most current trends in business today.

Upon completion of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate Program, participants will:

Understand Six Sigma and Lean and when each is useful
Use the Six Sigma method (DMAIC) to solve problems
Use some of the basic concepts of statistics to make decisions
Determine if a basic measurement system is suitable for use
Measure product or service quality as experienced by a customer
Use tools to identify potential sources of nonconformance
Be familiar with some of the basic concepts of experimental design
Create an FMEA or PPA for a process
Choose and generate an appropriate control chart for a process
Be familiar with lean process flow methods and how they are used
Highlights of the topics covered during the program include:

Overview of Six Sigma Methodology and Lean Thinking
Each Step of DMAIC - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control
The use of statistics in making business decisions
ANOVA Overview
Failure Prevention - Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Students are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop computer to class in order to practice some of the statistical tools.

Upon completion of the four-day workshop, students will have the knowledge to pass an online post-course certification exam. Successfully completing the examination will result in Green Belt certification.
