Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating Systemâ„?encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
LEED is a third-party certification program developed by the US Green Building Council and is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildingsperformance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
This intensive program delivers an in-depth review of the technical requirements of a specific LEED rating system and the tools and information needed to incorporate green building practices into a project. Study techniques to prepare for taking the LEED Professional Accreditation exam will be covered. Upon successful completion of the LEED exam, which is administered by the Green Building Certification Institute, individuals receive their LEED, Accredited Professional (AP) credential.
This program also includes a site visit to the EPA Region 8 Headquarters, based in Denver. Their building has received the LEED NC Gold Certification and they are in the process of pursuing the LEED EB O & M Certification.
