'' This ergonomics course has been designed for those students who wish to study the ergonomics of back injuries including:
Epidemiology of back injuries Types of back injuries Manual materials handling Anatomy and physiology of the back Static and dynamic postures Biomechanics of lifting Risk factors of back injury Ergonomic evaluation of manual materials handling Equipment and work design for prevention Ergonomic controls for back injury prevention The course prepares students at entry-level ergonomics theory and practice. It teaches about lifting safely, back disorders, work evaluation, equipment and design, and provides opportunities to develop skills for anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of ergonomic hazards unique to manual materials handling aimed at preventing back injuries in the workplace.
