Course Description:
'' The Certificate in International Freight Forwarding is offered through Continuing Education in association with the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA). Designed for individuals dealing with international freight shipments who wish to acquire a general knowledge of the theory and mechanics of handling international freight shipments, the certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the Module I: Introduction to Freight Forwarding. Module I is designed as an introduction to the basics and principles of freight forwarding through two semesters of 39 hours of classroom time per semester.
A second certificate is available only through the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association.
Semester 1 topics include: introduction to basic study skills, understanding freight forwarding, terms of trade, land transportation, air freight and ocean freight. Semester 2 topics include: commercial documentation, cargo security, transborder land transportation, export packaging and warehousing, transport insurance, international payments, alternative methods, costing and quoting, and dangerous goods.
