'' How we manage workplace and environmental health and safety issues now, and for the future, is critical to workers, organizations, and the environment itself. This rapidly changing area is a growing field of employment. Health hazards are on the rise. New legislation requiring employer compliance creates change and challenge, and organizations are highly motivated to avoid the huge costs associated with occupational and environmental accidents and mishaps. Employers are looking for people who can identify, evaluate and communicate information about workplace and environmental conditions that may have adverse impacts on human health, and have knowledge and skills to plan and implement strategies to control and manage potential problems.
The 300 hour Health, Safety and Environment Certificate is designed to provide basic instruction in the principles of workplace and environmental health and safety. The 300 hours is divided into 160 hours of core courses, 100 hours of optional courses (there is one required 40 hour course depending on the specialization chosen), and up to 40 hours of electives.
