'' This degree programme is unique, because it provides you with a strong foundation in sociology as a discipline, but combined with a strong interdisciplinary approach. The encounter between these different disciplines generates new perspectives and innovative ideas. A mixture of teaching methods such as lectures, seminars, tutorials, and projects will be applied. In the third year you can choose classes from CBS wide selection of electives or participate in exchange programmes with business schools and universities worldwide.
We expect to recruit a large number of international students, because this programme aims at the international labour market. We aim at producing candidates to work worldwide. The syllabus, the student composition, and the structure of the programme match the increasing demand for mobile people - aiming to work in the global network society.
Moreover, several lectures and seminars will be taught by international scholars from North America, Europe and Asia.
The BSc is structured around four streams:
Sociology. The core discipline is sociology. Sociology is a discipline concerning the study of all types of social relations. You will meet theorising about organisations in different contexts from the pre-modern world to the contemporary global world.
Methods. These courses aim to give you a broad methodological knowledge and skills that can be used when designing research projects, collecting data, and analysing organisations. The courses include research methods, qualitative methods, quantitative methods, and mixed methods.
Managerial Economy / Economic Sociology. This stream defines the economic core of the programme. Managerial economics and economic sociology supplement each other in an understanding of economic activities in modern complex societies. You are introduced to microeconomics, macroeconomics, business accounting, finance, and economic sociological analyses of market constructions, and differences in organisation cultures.
Areas of specialisation. This stream aims at relating and integrating the theoretical, analytical and methodological knowledge in a relevant economic and organisational practice. Moreover, it aims at strengthening your capacity as an agent of change in various organisational contexts.
