'' Accounting offers essential skills when searching\ for a career in many fields and can enhance career prospects when combined with another subject in one of our Joint Honours degrees. Our graduates are highly valued by employers worldwide ? our courses develop professional skills such as team working, creative problem solving, presentation and communication skills, and research and analysis. Get a competitive edge in the international graduate job market by completing the optional paid placement year and gain invaluable experience of working in the UK with major employers such as IBM, Intel, Audi, Volkswagen, HSBC, Marks and Spencer, the National Health Service and Siemens.

This Joint Honours option does not, however, provide a high level of exemptions from the examinations of the professional accounting bodies (ACCA/CIMA). If you wish to gain maximum professional exemptions towards qualifying as an accountant, you should study our Accounting and Finance BA Honours, or our Financial Management BA Honours.

Programme

A combination of two different subjects. Accounting can be combined with:

Business
Law
Computing.
The course develops an understanding of accounting information rather than developing technical expertise in its creation. Modules cover topics such as the social and environmental aspects of accountancy and company performance evaluation ? subjects designed to complement studies in the subject that forms the other half of this Joint degree.

Teaching/assessment
Teaching will be delivered through formal lectures, more informal seminars, tutorials, workshops and e-learning packages. Assessment will usually be through a combination of individual and group work, presentations, essays, reports and examinations.
