'' In the first year of the course the modules include
Research Designs in Health
Innovation, Leadership and Advancing Quality in Clinical Practice
Evidence- Based Practice
These modules examine the underpinnings of a modern research-based health service and provide the foundation for the dissertation. The modules are also taken by several other cohorts of students from a health service background, and inter-professional discussion will be encouraged, so as to ensure that topics are examined from a range of perspectives.
In the second year of the course the modules include Holistic Education and Practice and two other modules, the syllabuses of which are planned jointly by the student and a member of staff. Examples would be Advances in Dysfluency and Advances in Aphasia. This will give students the opportunity to advance their knowledge of particular specialisms pertinent to their own work.
In the third year the students carry out a dissertation. This will enable them to choose and research a particular topic in depth.
Assessment will be via a number of different methods including essays, presentations, and evaluation of published research and poster presentations, as well as a final dissertation.
