Course Description:

'' This course is designed to produce graduates with strong skills in the analysis and design of business IT systems. You will develop �people�and ‘problem solving�skills so you will be able to confidently discuss, negotiate and manage customers, service providers, senior management and skilled technical computer experts.

Year one lays the foundation for further study, you will learn topics such as the fundamentals of business IT and information systems development, including web and internet technologies. Year two builds on the first year of study, preparing you both for the industrial placement year and the final year of study. You are able to focus on areas such as information systems, database design, management decision making and financial computing. Year three is spent on placement in industry.

Year four includes an individual project, completed by all students, and a range of modules from which you can choose to pursue your own particular interests. The choice ranges from the more technical such as web information management, to more business-oriented topics including information systems strategy and services, information security management and data mining.

Teaching/assessment
This course uses a variety of learning, teaching and assessment methods including lectures, tutorials, computer laboratories, self-directed study, individual assignments, group work, projects, tests and examinations. Learning is supported by a University-wide Virtual Learning Environment.
