Course Description:

'' The Foundation Degree has been designed to provide extensive opportunities for hands-on work, with a particular feature involving the development of digital video productions. Combined with an understanding of the technological principles, this course equips you to enter the rapidly changing world of digital video and broadcast technology.

Four main themes are covered. Digital Broadcast Technology introduces a range of different technologies associated with the digital video and broadcast industries and is largely focused on how images and sound are captured, stored and reproduced. Digital Audio-Visual Technology introduces a range of technologies, practices and theories involved with audio production and post-production in the digital video and broadcast industries. Video Industry Practice introduces common practices and standards expected in the video and broadcast workplace. Digital Video and Broadcast Production introduces the operations and skills required to produce digital video.

In order to give you an experience of working within the ‘real world� all of the modules are delivered by Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies with industrial input from Spool Films, both based in Nottingham. All of the teaching for this programme will therefore require you to attend classes in Nottingham. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Degree you may wish to continue your studies by joining the final year of one of the other Technology courses within the division at DMU.
