Course Description:

'' Electronic Games Technology is a new exciting course designed for those students who have an interest in computer games and the associated technology and engineering applications. Electronic games place huge demands on both software and electronic hardware.

The Foundation Degree in Electronic Games Technology is designed to meet the needs of students who have a particular interest in developing skills in testing and quality assurance of electronic games. These skills are more widely needed in high performance hardware/software testing and development. The course operates in both full time and part time mode. The part time mode uses the full time two year content, packaged into three years part time study. The importance of work based learning is emphasised during the course.

The course is distinctive in offering the opportunity for students to develop skills relevant to electronics games technology. In Year 1 you will learn the fundamentals of games development, together with engineering and technological applications.

In Year 2 your skills in the areas of product introduction, project planning, together with further games development and testing, are developed.

Teaching/assessment
Modules have a mixture of teaching and learning strategies to reflect their content. Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials and practical laboratory sessions. Assessment is by practical projects, reports, essays, structured exercises, group and individual projects and examinations. Learning is supported on the Internet via the University?s Virtual Learning Environment.
