Training Course:Forensic ScienceSchool/Trainer:De Montfort University Leicester, United Kingdom
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' You can expect to benefit from a wide ranging syllabus that provides a sound education in both biology and chemistry, as well as putting this knowledge in its forensic context with modules covering crime scene processing, psychology, criminal law and case studies.
Year one is concerned with the basic principles and techniques of all aspects of forensic science. In year two more advanced concepts and applications are introduced and criminal law is studied in depth. The final year contains modules covering advanced aspects of DNA profiling, chemical pathology, authenticity and frauds, and fire, arson and explosives. A module based on the analysis of case studies ? which, through critical appraisal of real cases, brings together the knowledge from the rest of the course ? forms a central part of the final year. The final year also contains a project module, which gives students the opportunity to direct their own forensic science research under the guidance of a member of academic staff.
Benefit from extremely close links with various organisations involved in forensic science, particularly the Leicestershire Constabulary. Experts in criminal law, forensic information technology and psychology from within the University contribute to teaching and complement the science expertise of other staff to ensure that all aspects of the course are delivered by suitably qualified staff.
