Course Description:

'' The course has regular input from professional game artists, giving you a unique opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to create successful game content. You will graduate with a portfolio that includes 2D artwork, 3D models and playable game levels. The curriculum focuses on content creation with distinct themes:

Critical Games Studies is the analytical study of computer games, focusing on significant and influential games, and relating computer games to other media and culture
Game Production is the practical exploration of content creation, including 2D art, 3D modelling, character design, animation and level design
Visual Design develops essential game art skills, such as life drawing, concept art and visualisation.

Teaching/assessment
The course is delivered primarily through seminars, practical studio sessions and lectures. Extensive use is made of the University?s web-based Virtual Learning Environment, where you can submit work for critique and assessment via the web. Assessments will include reports, essays and regular presentations of artwork and practical projects. Guidance on producing a professional portfolio is also given by Codemasters and the teaching team.
