'' Designed to produce graduates who are conversant in international business and entrepreneurship through both practical application and relevant leading-edge theory, this course is likely to challenge you, both in terms of academic level and when critically considering various aspects of international business and entrepreneurship
Beginning with a series of core modules designed to underpin key business and finance principles, these are followed by modules aimed at developing key knowledge and skills relevant to an entrepreneur within an international environment.
Semester one (September-January)
In the first semester, you will complete the four core (compulsory) modules:
Critical Perspectives in Global Management The critical application of classical and contemporary theories and the advancement of management practice from both macro and micro-organisational perspectives Organisational Context and Analysis Examining the role of operations and human resource management in organisations, emphasising links with other key functions and the importance of managing people in operations Accounting for Managers Critical appraisal of the accounting processes regarding internal planning and control and the ensuring preparation of financial statements International Strategic Management, Markets and Resources Examining the role of strategic leaders and managers in organisations. These core modules cover essential key themes in business and management and provide a solid foundation in essential functions such as accounting, strategic planning, market research, effective human resource management and information management. You will develop enhanced academic and interpersonal skills, including the ability to critically analyse and think strategically. These are all key skills for the successful entrepreneur.
Semester two (January-May)
In the second semester, all students complete three core (compulsory) and one optional module:
Research Methodology (in preparation for the dissertation in semester three) Entrepreneurial Organisations Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Optional modules may include:
Strategic and Financial Decision Making Managing e-Business in a Global Economy Managing Advertising and Communications. You are requested to select your electives during semester one. Please note that electives shown are examples only - modules available may vary each year.
Semester three (June-September)
Dissertation in the area of Entrepreneurship The final stage of this Masters degree is the dissertation, where you will complete a detailed piece of written research with an international business and entrepreneurship focus on a topic of your choice. This may enable you to deepen your understanding of a particular market, culture or application of technology relevant to a business idea or opportunity that you are looking to develop upon completion of your studies. The Research Methodology module in semester two prepares you for the dissertation, and support is offered by a nominated personal tutor who, where possible, will be a subject expert in your chosen field. Dissertation subjects normally reflect areas of relevance to your career ambitions or have a practical application for your employer/sponsor.
