'' The three semesters contribute equally to the degree award. The following list gives the full-time study pattern. If you choose to undertake a placement, this will be placed before the semester three project.
Semester one(September-January)
The modules you will study are:
Electromechanics
Engineering Business Environment
Numerical Techniques in Engineering
Advanced Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer.
Semester two (February-May)
The modules you will study are:
Advanced Solid Mechanics
Research Methods
Engineering Systems Dynamics and Control
Energy and the Environment.
Semester three (June-September)
This is taken completely by a major research and development based individual project supported by ongoing research in the Faculty or Industrial partners
Optional placement opportunities
The Faculty of Technology is offering a great opportunity to boost your career prospects through an optional twelve month placement as part of your postgraduate studies. The Faculty has a dedicated Industrial Placement Unit which will help you obtain a one year placement. Once in placement, you will be supported by your visiting tutor to ensure that you gain maximum benefit from the experience. Placements begin after the taught component of the programme has been completed - usually around June - and last for 12 months. When you return from work placement you then begin the dissertation stage of your programme.
