Course Description:

'' The two pathways in Fashion and Textiles share a common year one, where you experience skills essential to all areas such as materials skills, colour and trend prediction, and those required to work in today?s fast moving retail buying environment. This knowledge is then applied to your chosen pathway from the end of year one.

[1] Fashion Pathway (BA Honours): from year two, you focus on fashion buying skills, which include selecting the right garments and developing products with manufacturers and designers. The inclusion of design provides you with an understanding of how Fashion Designers operate and the essentials of range building. Buying modules are taught by experienced buyers and visiting speakers who explain how companies operate.

[2] Textiles Pathway (BSc Honours): years two and four provide a broad understanding of the textile industry from the materials used in production through to the creation of finished clothing and textile products. Gain an appreciation of the whole product development process from the initial idea to its appearance in store. The course also covers textile buying, the marketing of textile products, retail management and the sourcing and supply of clothing and textiles. In year three, you will gain commercial experience through a work placement in areas of buying, merchandising, marketing and retail management, often working for major high street fashion retailers.
