'' The course is delivered in London, and is designed to train practitioners in the transpersonal approach to counselling and psychotherapy. In transpersonal psychotherapy, personal breakdowns and crises are seen to have a useful purpose in that they act as a warning signal, as well as indicating the way forward in terms of change, growth and unfoldment. Once the crisis is over and the mental condition is stabilised, there is a chance for re-examination, thus preventing a recurrence of the crisis. This involves reassessing personal motivation, sense of purpose, and meaning in life. Much of the Counselling and Psychotherapeutic work done at the CCPE is based on the fundamental principle of building and expanding on a person’s strengths or ’qualities’, and in helping the person find their natural rhythm in work and at home. At this point the client is able to sense the right direction and to set goals that give him or her a sense of fulfilment and achievement in life.
The course is divided into modules totalling 180 Master’s Level credits. Core modules include: The Transpersonal Perspective, Supervision; Research Methods in Psychotherapy, Dissertation. During the second year of the course you are given the opportunity to specialise in one aspect of the transpersonal approach, choosing one of the following: Spiritual Perspectives, Combining Existential and Transpersonal Approaches, Combining Humanistic and Transpersonal Approaches, Combining Analytic and Transpersonal Approaches, Inner Child and the Transpersonal Approach, Combining Jungian and Transpersonal Approaches.
