'' This course introduces QuarkXPress, a design and page layout tool for creative professionals. In this three-day class you will learn the basics of page layout, how to type in text or import text and graphics. You’ll understand how text wraps around graphics and how to link text from one page to another. Production shortcuts are discussed and extensive exercises are used to reinforce the skills learned.

By the end of the class, you’ll be able to:

Create a new document, defining the page size and margins
Create text boxes for typing and inputting text
Resize and move text boxes
Create a picture box and import graphics
Understand the different graphic file formats
Scale and rotate graphics and know when to use these options
Create text wrap around a graphic
Create lines and arrows
Use the Measurement palette for precise placement of text and graphics
Use kerning and tracking, understand baseline shift
Spell check a document
Link and unlink text boxes
Create a border, color a background, create reversed text
Create and use style sheets for rapid formatting of the text
Set tabs for tables and forms
Use Leader tabs for forms
Set Preferences to customize the application to the way you work
Use shortcuts for navigating the pages and selecting tools
Create master pages, add auto page numbers
Apply master pages to your pages
Use Paragraph Rules as a design element and for tables
Understand and use Space After and Space Before paragraph formatting
Use Find and Change for rapid changes to your document
Understand Ruler guides for exact placement of items on the page
Use Libraries for storing text or graphics
Add colors to items, use the Color palette, create blends
