'' In this intensive two-day seminar, you will obtain a comprehensive overview of the principles and techniques of the design and construction of earthworks, such as embankments, earth retaining structures, earth dams, shallow foundations, excavations in soils, and subsurface contaminant barriers. You will learn how to address these issues through presentations and discussion with an expert practitioner. Specific topics include site investigation, interpretation of soil properties, design considerations, quality assessment and control of earth works, groundwater seepage and corresponding environmental impacts. The state-of-the-art development of soil improvement techniques will be introduced to enhance your knowledge on the subject. Case studies will be presented for each topic presented to help you to achieve the learning objectives, along with hand-on exercises.
