Course Description:

'' The selection of a turbo-generator for an industrial plant can be based on producing power at reduced energy cost, or to make use of a waste product, or to maintain plant operation during disturbances on utility company’s transmission lines. This course provides guidelines in the selection and application of the generator and the excitation system for the best performance, flexibility, protection, system integration and utility interface.

Objective
To provide participants with the technical background and guidelines in the selection and application of the generator and excitation system in an industrial plant.

Who Should Attend
Consulting engineers, design, operations and maintenance engineers from utilities, industrial plants, large institutional and commercial buildings, and other technical individuals who are involved in design, operation and maintenance of turbo-generators, as well as graduating students who will be entering the job market.

Special Features
The instructor uses case studies throughout the course to make it easier to get a feel for the ‘real world�design process. On Day II in the afternoon the instructor will lead a discussion of common generator operating problems encountered, and ways to detect, assess and repair them. The discussion will highlight operating and maintenance difficulties that can be attributed to deficiencies in plant design and component selection. This is an interactive course that covers material in a clear methodical way to make it easy to understand
