Training Course:Environmental Management of Stormwater and Land DevelopmentSchool/Trainer:Educational Program Innovations Center Mississauga, ON, Canada
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' The continuing changes in the planning, design and implementation of stormwater management have great impact on the economy of planning land development and redevelopment. Watershed and subwatershed strategies, recognized as the planning mechanism along with an understanding of the overall budget/balance approach, provide a holistic approach to manage the resources of a watershed on an ecosystem basis. Maintenance of the stream ecosystem rests in the understanding of the water budget and on stream flow management practices that protect the physical processes which in turn influence the biological systems. Planning and design of stormwater management practices now must include considerations for public safety and health concerns in connection with flooding, soil erosion and water quality with the protection and sustainability of the natural systems within the framework of a watershed strategy. Also, because budget decisions under the municipal planning process can significantly impact the quality and quantity of water, the strategy has been integrated with the municipal planning process. This seminar focuses on the past experiences, current practice and implications of multidisciplinary approach of stormwater management and land use, their relationship with development and redevelopment as well as the legal issues involved. This seminar will give you comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of stormwater management integrated into land development.
Objective To assist participants to include stormwater management considerations into the land use planning process at early and appropriate stages for greater efficiency and economy.
Who Should Attend Watershed managers, municipal engineers, planners, land developers, designers, consulting engineers, regulatory agency personnel, site engineers, inspectors, biologists, development and design technicians and technologists, and special interest groups with responsibilities for managing urban streams.
