Course Description:
'' Two important topics in power systems engineering will be covered in
this two-day course. Power system neutral grounding plays an important
role for the safety of personnel, detection of faulted elements, and preservation
of power system and equipment. The types/methods of system
neutral grounding used in industrial plants are comprehensively covered
in the first part of the course. The second part deals with high-voltage
substation ground grid design which is extremely important for the safety
of personnel and preservation of equipment. This part of the course
covers the soil resistivity measurement, safety requirements, necessary
steps for the design of a safe ground grid design and corrective measures.
The design of a high-voltage substation grounding system is presented.

To provide participants with the understanding of:
�Guidelines for the selection of neutral grounding methods for
industrial power systems and power plants
�Safety issues associated with high voltage substation grounding and
a step by step approach in the design of a safe grounding system
