'' A+ Certification is a testing program sponsored by CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) that assesses basic computer support professionals’ skills and certifies the competency of entry-level service support professional in the computer industry. Earning A+ Certification means that the individual possesses the knowledge and skills, essential for a successful entry-level (6 months experience) computer support professional, as defined by experts from companies across the industry.
CompTIA sets the industry-wide, internationally recognized standard of basic competency levels in the field of computer service. CompTIA certification standards help maximize the efficiency in recruiting, hiring and promoting employees, help fill the needs of today’s information technology workforce by providing individuals with skills in demand, and give job seekers identifiable career paths, transferable skills and credentials that are industry recognized. Major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications back the program.
Anyone who wants an internationally recognized credential as a competent entry-level computer support professional can take the A+ Certification Exams. The exams are administered by Thomson Prometric and Pearson VUE Testing Centers, and covering a broad range of hardware, software, security and safety, but are not related to any vendor-specific products.
CompTIA A+ 2006 offers certification in three specific job scenarios. To become certified, you must pass an Essentials exam plus one of three exams for each job scenario.
