'' In this course you will implement wireless LANs, understand how the MAC sub-layer and Physical layer of the OSI model are used, implement a wireless design, and define security and vulnerabilities/threats in a wireless. You will also identify the common elements necessary to effectively manage a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), identify the different wireless LAN vendors and a few of their products, understand the components of a basic cellular network and interference and multi-path issues, and understand how the first and second generation cellular networks are evolving.
Objectives:
After completing this course you will have explored how Wireless Intelligent Networks and E911 Technology works, understand how the basic technology behind wireless local loop and fixed wireless access functions, and understand the background of PBX/Centrex (Wired) and PBX/Centrex (Wireless). You will know how most satellite ventures have incorporated high-capacity Internet access into their business plans, and how home and office applications are appearing around the world. You will also understand how the existence of the Internet will affect a satellite network in terms of accessing the Internet via a satellite and what applications are in use to do so.
