'' In this course, you will explore the layered structure of Network Defense architecture, define access control objectives and auditing concepts, identify technologies used in the design of firewall systems, and examine the implementation and configuration of firewalls for three different operating systems to compare their functionality. You will also examine Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and the different types of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and explore the implementation and configuration of a network-based and a host-based IDS. You will identify the core concepts of TCP/IP packet and signature analysis with the goal of intrusion detection, and examine the goals of the CVE project. You will also explore the concepts and issues related to Risk Analysis and identify ways to minimize risk. Finally, you will examine ways to implement a security policy for an organization and define different methods of policy creation.
