'' The evolution to an All-IP network is underway. Although unfolding more rapidly in the wireless arena, it is occurring in wired and wireless networks. This set of courses describe how wireless networks are being upgraded with 3G network elements, protocols, and call/session control procedures to accommodate multimedia applications. Course content explains how all traffic will use IP for transport, and how SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), and SDP (Session Description Protocol) provide the new all-encompassing call and session control for multimedia calls as well as call control for traditional voice calls and session control for simple data sessions such as web browsing. The course also highlights the new functional network elements specified by standards bodies to enable the evolution including Call Session Control Functions (CSCFs), Media Gateway Control Functions (MGCFs), Media Gateways, (MGs), Breakout Gateway Control Functions (BGCFs), and more. ...''
