This course teaches the principles of the Eight Wastes and the difference between Value Add and Non-Value Add activities. The eight wastes are described with examples to help the participant see the waste that is hidden, or taken for granted, in both manufacturing and office environments. Utilizing Lean techniques can help to dramatically reduce these wastes and their associated costs.
Objectives: Students will be able to: identify the eight wastes; describe each of the eight wastes and give examples; discuss why eight wastes are a primary focus area during lean implementation; describe value add and non-value add activities and why they are important in a lean implementation. ...''
