'' The mission of Action in English at the Olin Center is to provide language training courses and intercultural workshops to help people from different backgrounds understand and work together productively and efficiently.

As the local workforce becomes increasingly international, the occasions for intercultural misunderstanding proliferate.

Action in English will begin the training program with an initial consultation, free of charge to your company. We will then work closely with you to establish goals and priorities. A customized program will be designed to fit your needs and resources.

Whether you seek a cost-effective means of providing basic English language training for your staff, or wish to train scientists to communicate lab results in English, we can provide the workplace training you need.

Action in English is a subsidiary of the Olin Center. Founded in 1992, the Olin Center has provided academic and intercultural training to thousands of US residents and internationals for over a decade. The Olin Center, accredited by ACCET, has established relationships with Boston Architectural Center, Bunker Hill Community College, and most recently with Cambridge College, with whom the Olin Center is offering a joint Master of Management Program for non-native speakers of English.

Problem: A manager in a manufacturing plant cannot communicate with his multinational staff without interpreters.

Solution: By training employees in listening skills and in cultural expectations, Action in English can help workers to ask pertinent questions and better understand answers, eliminating the need for intermediaries.

Problem: A major scientific project is undertaken by Firm A with a US director, with experiments conducted by scientists of several different nationalities. This project has as many linguistic and human resource challenges as scientific ones.
