Course Description:

'' Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (MCTS: SQL Server 2005) implement and maintain databases using specific instructions and specifications. They have thorough knowledge of the product, understand how to use the tools and Transact-SQL language, and know how to explore the user interface. Technology Specialists typically pursue careers as database administrators, database developers, or business intelligence developers. They may also be developers and systems administrators who do not work with SQL Server daily but who want to show their breadth of technology experience.

Students receive instruction that provides preparation foundation for the Microsoft MCTS: SQL Server 2005 exam: 70-431 - Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - Implementation and Maintenance as well as for the Microsoft MCSA series of exams: 70-270 - Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional; 70-290 - Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment; 70-291 - Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.

Course Objectives

ï¿?Identify the tasks involved in supporting Windows 2003 networks.
ï¿?Understand how networking concepts are implemented in Windows 2003
ï¿?Configure Microsoft Windows 2003 Professional on stand-alone computers and on client computers that are part of a workgroup or domain.
ï¿?Install and configure Windows 2003 Server.
ï¿?Install, configure, manage and support a network infrastructure that uses Microsoft Windows 2003 server.
ï¿?Gain skills needed to create a networking services infrastructure design that supports the required network applications.
ï¿?Learn network solution technologies: including DHCP, IP, OSPF, RIP, and IGMP.
ï¿?Gain the knowledge and skills needed to design a security framework for small, medium, and enterprise networks by using Microsoft Windows 2003 technologies.
ï¿?Install, configure and monitor SQL Server 2005.
ï¿?Create and manage database files.
ï¿?Create, backup and restore databases.
ï¿?Manage security, transactions and locks.
ï¿?Transfer data into and out of SQL Server.
ï¿?Replicate data between SQL Server instances.
ï¿?Use XML-related features in Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
ï¿?Plan, create, and optimize indexes.
ï¿?Implement data integrity in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 databases by using constraints and triggers.
ï¿?Implement views, stored procedures, and functions.
ï¿?Implement managed code in the database.
ï¿?Use Service Broker to build a messaging-based solution.
ï¿?Use Notification Services to generate and send notifications.
