Course Description:
'' Designed for individuals who are actively or wish to become directly involved in the training of high angle rescue staff in fire, police, professional rescue groups, municipalities, military, and industry. A Trainer Certificate is awarded to successful participants, and a biannual two-day requalification is necessary to maintain the certificate. You will be required to demonstrate flawless practical skills as well as a sound understanding of limitations and advantages of specific techniques. You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to safely train others with a focus on risk management.
Covered: Day One: Explanation of equipment use and strengths. Anchor Selection and construction. Team safety. Edge safety. Various belay techniques. Various rappel techniques. Day Two: Tying off a belay in tandem and solo. Tying off a rappel device. Rope ascending techniques. Rescuer positioning. Day Three: Haul Systems. "Pick off" Rescues Introduction to basket work. Day Four: Packaging in various rescue baskets. Lowering and hauling baskets. Barrow Boy positioning. Tyrolean Traverse. Day Five: Written Test Practical Test ...''
