Course Description:
'' This 3-day instructor-led course provides the knowledge and skills needed to install and configure a Storage Area Network (SAN) using Brocade SilkWorm switches and directors. This course provides significant hands-on experience and discussion to help students become proficient with the features of Brocade Fabric OS 5.1.0. Basic topics include an introduction to Fibre Channel, switch installation, and switch configuration. Advanced topics include zoning, trunking, utilizing Fabric Watch, updating switch firmware, backing up switch configurations, and troubleshooting. Students perform switch management using Telnet and Brocade Web Tools, and configure SNMP and Fabric Manager 5.1. Additional topics include long-distance SANs; securing switches using password attributes, secure copy, RADIUS, and SSL; and switch operation with connected FL_Port devices.
Course Content
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
Differentiate between the various cable and SFP types
Understand fabric topologies and nodes (local and remote)
Install, configure, and administer Brocade switches and directors
Administer the Name Server, zoning, and networking within a fabric
Describe the concept of networking switches and how Brocade switches and directors use FSPF for port-based and exchange-based routing
Use the Web Tools graphical interface to administer a switch
Troubleshoot basic switch problems
Be prepared to take the BCFP exam

Implement Fabric Watch to monitor a switch (50 minutes)
Describe the functions of long-distance SAN fabric solutions (50 minutes)
Implement RADIUS, SSL, and Secure Copy; configure password attributes such as password strength, aging, and lockout parameters (90 minutes)
Implement Fabric Manager 5.1.0 to monitor a switch (80 minutes)
Monitor Brocade switches using SNMP (45 minutes)
