Be sure to note that this is not a class on Boris Continuum Complete (BCC).
Presentation Method Students will become familiar with the user interface through a combination of instructor-led discussion and in-class exercises. Hands-on exercises let students create effects to achieve real-world results. Class size is limited to six people. During hands-on practice there are no more than two students per machine.
Student Materials Student materials contain information necessary for the class, including the Student Guide, and supplemental reference materials as well as a Training CD containing all the media required to complete the exercises. Students can continue the exercises at home, using the Boris KeyFramer that is included on the CD. The Boris KeyFramer is a standalone application designed to create Boris effects offline using any computer. The KeyFramer can be duplicated and distributed free of charge. The KeyFramer is a cross-platform application. Actual effect rendering requires a host application with the Boris plug-in installed.
Audience This class is designed for an experienced nonlinear editor or motion graphics professional who wants to expand their titling and effects creation capabilities by adding knowledge of a third-party plug-in to their skill set.
Prerequisites This class requires proficiency with the Macintosh or Windows operating system. Students must have experience with at least one of the host NLEs (including Avid, Final Cut Pro, Media 100 and Premiere). Students editing experience must include some title or effects creation. Students must understand compositing and graphics basics, including keyframing, interpolation, alpha channels, and vertical effects. Ideally students will have some familiarity with a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. This class does not provide a compositing background but instead teaches students how to create title animation and composited effects within the Boris RED interface.
Goals
