'' This course provides comprehensive first-level training for anyone involved in provision, support, and delivery of Green IT Services. It is accredited by, and follows the syllabus specified by the Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB)
It culminates in an optional one-hour multiple-choice examination for the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Green IT
Every organisation now faces the challenge of providing cost effective quality services, against a background of economic downturn, volatile energy costs and an obligation to the environment to reduce its carbon footprint. These organisations are also increasingly looking towards its IT/IS group to lead the way and assist the organisation to realise its objective of becoming greener.
In recognition of this, QA, in partnership with the British Computer Society (BCS) has developed the world’s first, formal “Green IT�foundation qualification.
The purpose of the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Green IT is to certify that the candidate has gained knowledge of terminology, an understanding of key concepts and has comprehended the best practice principles of ISEB’s ‘Green IT�qualification.
Skills The following principles are addressed
An introduction to Green IT Understand the definition of “Green IT� Identify the political, environmental, social and legal drivers for Green IT (including emerging technologies, legislation, and changing use of IT) Identify an organisation’s internal drivers for change (internal auditing of cost efficiencies, stakeholders) Understand the practicalities of energy efficiencies (measures to improve and policies to maintain improvements; proactive management of Green IT issues) Explain the business benefits of adopting a Green IT strategy
Green IT regulations, legislation and policy
Account the main goals and objectives of UK and EU legislations and policies and understand the impact of international agreements Explain the value of green strategies and initiatives Identify Government “quick wins�(meeting initiatives) Understand procurement, lifecycle, and disposal planning Describe the common components of creating a Green IT action plan (audit, identify issues, cost benefit analysis, implementation plan, planning and review cycle) Understand the principles behind carbon off-setting (to comply with caps or personal off-setting, cost benefit analysis) Where is your organisation now
Describe the value and process of auditing current business operations
Explain current practices and policies and their fit with Green IT outcomes
