'' This course shows how to successfully connect the PRINCE2® methodology to the management of IT projects. The techniques of PRINCE2, such as Quality Reviews, Risk Management and Product Planning are explained within an IT framework. EVA (Earned Value Analysis) is explained as a technique for managing and predicting project costs and schedules. We show how to make IT projects manageable and predictable, with visibility-making techniques based on modern development methods. Critical Path and Critical Chain project planning techniques are covered in depth. Optimal PRINCE2 Stage Planning for IT projects is an important topic which is addressed thoughout the course .The familiar and specific issues for IT projects such as, Progress Management, Requirements Management, Acceptance Criteria and optimal team structures are part of any IT Manager¡¦s essential toolkit and are all covered with a PRINCE flavour. IT Specialist Products are described, together with guidelines for managing their quality and schedule. Specific threats, such as IT Risk and IT Schedule failures are explained.
The training is instructor-led, with extensive exercises and discussion sessions.
Attendees will receive extensive classroom materials, white papers and example project planning documents and estimation toolsets.
Prerequisites Attendees of this course should have some understanding of PRINCE2. However, a brief introduction to PRINCE2 is given on the first day. Exposure to software development and familiarity with multi-person projects a requirement.
This course is suited to project managers, lead analyst / programmers and technical staff moving into a PRINCE2 project.
It is also suitable for staff who are expecting to move into a project management role or management wanting to familiarize themselves with current PRINCE2 technology.
