Performance issues based on personal relationships and team dynamics take huge amounts of resources to solve. It drains managers�time as well as decreasing motivation. There is a well-known connection between staff motivation and performance: so improving the motivation of the team to work together will improve its performance.

The course includes lots of practical games and the emphasis is on fun as well as achieving your desired outcomes: improving collaboration, increasing understanding, increasing communication, creating a new team and creating a collective vision very specific to your organisation. Team Building works to create bonds between team members and ensures that your team operates as effectively as possible.

This course is for a whole team of people to attend. It is aimed at those who want to cement relationships, create understanding and move team performance on to a higher level. Due to the dedicated nature of the course it can be tweaked on the day by the instructor to reflect the issues and desired benefits the team wants from the course. Alternatively it can be tailored like any course on our public schedule to meet your specific requirements. It is highly flexible in nature and if you would like to include social events, such as learning to cook or outdoor activities, then just let us know and we can tailor a programme to suit your requirements.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
understanding the different qualities that others bring to the team
understand why you either find them so easy (or challenging) to get along with
know how a person’s intent can reduce conflict
recognise and deal with conflict styles that are different to your own
know how to apply these skills in your personal life as well as your work life
have an insight into how you and others prefer to work
understand how you may be seen by others
have the ability to see other’s intent not just their behaviour
learn about the team dynamic cycle �what happens to teams during their life.
What does the course cover?
Introduce facilitators, agenda, timings, and admin.
Play a light-hearted exercise to find out more about each other on a personal basis.
Exploring our assumptions.
High Performing Teams.
Facilitated discussion.
This may include a workshop version of team dynamic circle �(form, storm, norm, perform).
Team games including discussion of what went well and what could have been better.
The characteristics of high performing teams.
Belbin and the various roles you can play in the team.
How teams work.
How important communication is and how easily assumptions are made about what others are doing.
SDI form completion and explanation and discussion of the results.
Exploration of trends amongst the delegates.
Learn how others see your behaviour when things are going well or when you are in conflict.
Explore the difference between motivations and behaviours.
Exercise to identify the behaviours to adopt and to avoid when working with the various SDI ‘behaviour colours�in your team.
The three stages of conflict.
Introduction to the Schutz Model and the three main steps to building relationships and explore how this model relates to teams, particularly newly formed teams.
Exercise to apply the model to your role and explore a new team member joining.
Discussion and group work to create team vision, roles, rules etc.
Identify the main messages and what you can do to develop as a team.
