Prior musical training or experience is helpful, but is not required.

For the first module we will focus on production techniques using Reason 4.0 software, a virtual MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) studio. Using a USB MIDI keyboard, you will learn how to play and record various digital instruments, shape the sounds of the instruments and finally, arrange, mix and master your music.

The course will familiarize students with core music production concepts and techniques. Alone, it is sufficient for the aspiring producer to walk away and craft their own music on any software platform. Module 2 and 3, offered later in the year, will build on these skills using Ableton Live
