'' Aslib, The Association for Information Management, was established in 1924. Its members are private and public sector companies and organisations throughout the world, concerned with managing information resources efficiently. Aslib has 3 branches and 14 Special Interest Groups, covering some 60 SIC areas. Our expertise is in helping and advising organisations, from SMEs to large corporations and governments, on any of their issues and problems, information management great and small.
The key roles of our organisation are:
to stimulate awareness of the benefits of good management of information resources and its value to represent and lobby for the interests of the information sector on matters which are of national and international importance varying from copyright and data protection to the role of scientibic journals. to provide a range of information related products and services to meet the needs of the information society To fulfill these roles we have developed four main functions within the Association. They are consultancy, publications, training and recruitment.
Our consultancy activities drawn principally from our network of leading information professionals range from giving answers to specific questions for individuals or small companies, to major studies for the British Government, and recommending policies and strategies to the Peoples Republic of China.
